Lightweight solar just got smarter. The popular Nomad 7 Solar Panel has been redesigned and engineered to stay at the front of the pack in portable solar both in weight and technology. The big upgrade in technology comes with the introduction of the regulator and auto-restarter meaning you can charge your devices directly from the panel without the need to run through a battery as a regulator. New sleek design also cuts the weight and package size from the standard Nomad 7. 

 

 

Smart Regulator 

 

Every device that uses USB charging has its own optimum charging voltage – iphones differ from Samsung which can both differ from cameras and so on. The regulator in the Nomad 7 Plus can sense what device is plugged in and deliver the optimum current to it to charge it in the shortest time. This process is also important when the panel is not receiving consistent sun light either from clouds moving in front of it or if the sunlight angle changes – when it is on a back pack for example. The Regulator in the Nomad 7 Plus will deliver the optimum charge to your devices even though the sunlight going in to it may change. If the panel cannot supply the correct amount of current it will stop supplying it and restart when it can – thus not confusing smart devices with a fluctuating charge. 

 

 

Auto Re-Start

 

Further on from the regulator, the Nomad 7 Plus can also tell the difference between a device that has been fully charged and a device that has stopped charging because it is not receiving its optimum current (due to cloud cover, shadows etc.). It will automatically restart charging a device when it can deliver the power so you don’t have to constantly monitor your devices. 

 

 

Solar Intensity Indicator

 

There is a simple solar intensity indicator on the panel with four LED’s that tell you how much sunlight is getting to the device; great for prompting you to change the angle of the panel as the day progresses. 

 

 

Modular and Tough

 

Like all Goal Zero products, the Nomad 7 Plus is designed to be used in the harshest of places by people who love being there. You don’t have to tip-toe around this device to keep it from breaking; it is weatherproof and tough. It comes with a modular stand and device pocket on the back. The stand helps you get the perfect angle for the sun and it completely comes off for when weight and space is of most importance. This brings the weight from 363grams down to 260grams and makes the unit incredibly thin.  

 

This product can be used on its own or paird with one of Goal Zero’s batteries for night and backup power.
